Install Directions

Installing the files version of A&N:

1) Download the required files.

For A&N there is four files that must be downloaded
a) ANfiles01.zip and ANfiles02.zip These are all of the files that are unique to A&N
b) TA+ANcommon01.zip and TA+ANcommon02.zip These are all of the files that are not unique to A&N.

NOTE: If you have Fun with Pets Collection and have Store Edition installed then you will need 1 extra file, see the supplement below (Not applicable for the UC, it does not have the newer Store Edition).

2) Extract the zips, the files inside all of them have the correct folder hierarchy for a simple copy/cut & paste installation.
Inside ANfiles01.zip there's a folder named The Sims 2 Angel and Nurses Stuff, This is the main installation folder.

NOTE: For Windows versions after XP you will have to negate Windows User Account Control (UAC), temporarily disabling is preferred but remember to re-enable it when done. It may also pay to disconnect any internet connection while UAC is disabled. Alternatively work in a folder like your documents folder that UAC doesn't interfere with

3) Open each extracted folder including the main installation folder and you should see a folder named TSData, if so then you are at the correct folder hierarchy, if not open the next folder (this may vary depending on the software you use to extract the zip). Copy/Cut and paste all of the folders and files from the other extracted zips into the main installation folder. When you paste the folders you should get a message asking you that the folders already exist and do you want to overwrite, select yes to all. Some files are deliberately set to Read Only so you may also be asked to confirm you want to move them, select yes to all.

To upgrade an existing installation:

1) If you are upgrading a self installer version then find and remove the old A&N collection files in \TSData\Res\UserData\Collections\, the new collection files have more collections compiled into a single file and may have different file names (Skip this if you are updating a newer, files version).

2) You just need to overwrite the existing files with the new files from the main installation folder. If you have Fun with Pets Collection and have Store Edition installed then also update the UI, see the supplement below. For Windows versions after XP if you haven't disabled Windows UAC then you'll need to Cut and paste your original A&N folder to your documents first, update the files then move the A&N folder back to where it belongs. If you are upgrading a self installer version then go to Step 9, if you are updating a files version then All Done (remember to re-enable Windows User Account Control if applicable).

For a new Installation:

3) Locate your The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff folder (it will have a different name in the UC like EP9). Open to \TSData\Res\Sound\ and copy all except Misc.package into the same folder hierarchy (\TSData\Res\Sound) in the main installation folder. If you DON'T have Fun with Pets Collection with Store Edition installed then from M&G Open to \TSData\Res\UserData\Collections\ and copy all into the same folder hierarchy (\TSData\Res\UserData\Collections\) in the main installation folder.

4) From M&G copy the CSBin folder to the main installation folder, then open TSBin and copy the main executable, Sims2EP9.exe to TSBin in the main installation folder. Rename the new Sims2EP9.exe to Sims2AnN.exe. NOTE: If you are using the UC (see the note below) you may need a no-DVD cracked Sims2EP9.exe.

NOTE: If you have Fun with Pets Collection and have Store Edition installed see the supplement below.

5) Move the new The Sims 2 Angel and Nurses Stuff folder to its final location, ideally side by side with your Mansion and Garden folder.
Either:

6) Download the file named ANSupplement.zip and run the executable it contains. That will create the shortcuts for you and add the Windows registry entries that SimPe requires to locate A&N and add A&N into Window's Game Explorer. If you choose this option it is critical that you renamed the files as described above and you ‘browse’ to the main installation folder during installation or the shortcuts and Windows registry entries will all be invalid. This will add itself to Windows Programs and Features (Add/Remove Programs) so it can be removed easily later.

NOTE: If you are using the UC see the note below, you may need the AN(UC)Supplement.zip instead.

(Or)

7) Open the new The Sims 2 Angel and Nurses Stuff folder and navigate to TSBin\Sims2AnN.exe then 'Right Click' on it and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut) from the context menu.
Navigate to CSBin\ and 'Right Click' on TS2BodyShop.exe and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut) from the context menu.
Navigate to Support\ and 'Right Click' on A&N.htm and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut) from the context menu.

8) Clean up those new shortcuts on your desktop, rename them to suit yourself and you can change the icon for the main shortcut (Sims2AnN.exe) if you like, the file named GDF.dll in the same folder (TSBin) as the executable is the icon file to use. Move or copy the shortcuts into your All Programs menu if you like.

9) Before Running A&N for the first time it is highly recommended the you change the name of your game folder, (Documents\EA Games\) ‘The Sims 2’ so A&N can build a new one. This way A&N will add its collections and pre-build your game Thumbnails. A&N contains several NPCs that will be added into your neighbourhoods, running those neighbourhoods in M&G after using A&N will corrupt them so keeping your existing ‘The Sims 2’ folder will enable going back by re-naming the 'The Sims 2' folders if you decide to.

Notes:

Files from Mansion and Garden that are unchanged are not included, this doesn't reduce the download size much but it prevents A&N from being used without a legal copy of M&G.
If you have 'known file extensions hidden' then ignore the file extension when renaming, Sims2EP9.exe will appear as Sims2EP9, change it to Sims2AnN ignoring the .exe part.
Renaming the executables before creating the shortcuts avoids getting A&N and M&G shortcuts muddled up.

Supplement for users of Fun with Pets Collection with Store Edition installed.
You will need to download one extra file, FwP-ANfiles. The file is to update the UI for Store Edition so it must be installed last and allowed to replace the existing file.
All of the installation is the same, copying files from M&G except for the main executable. Sims2SC.exe is the one you must use which needs to be copied from Store Edition (EP99/TSBin/). After copying rename it to Sims2AnN.exe the same as if it were Sims2EP9.exe.

Note for UC users:

It seems Origin have added a new security to Mansion & Garden Stuff, Although Maxis had intended for their software to be run from any location this new security limits it's use to be only from where Origin installed it.
There is two ways around that, the first and probably best is to download and use a no-DVD cracked Sims2EP9.exe and use that as described above instead of the one from M&G.

The second option is to add a Sims2.ini file into your M&G/TSBin/ folder, this will direct the UC to use the files from A&N instead of M&G.
You can either create the Sims2.ini yourself or download the AN(UC)Supplement.zip and run the executable it contains. The AN(UC)Supplement works and does the same as ANSupplement except it creates a Sims2.ini for you and points A&Ns shortcuts to your existing M&G's executable.

To create your own Sims2.ini
Create a text file and add the following two lines

[Directories]
ep17dir=the full path to A&N

the full path to A&N must be correct for your installation.
example:
ep17dir=C:\Program Files\EA Games\ The Sims 2 Angel and Nurses Stuff

Rename the new text file to Sims2.ini (you must have file extensions shown to do that)
The Sims2.ini must then be placed into the same folder as Sims2EP9.exe in Mansion & Garden Stuff, there is no need to copy Sims2EP9.exe to A&N or create shortcuts, just launch your game as usual.
If you ever remove A&N remember to delete the Sims2.ini to return your game to normal.

To uninstall:
Delete the entire The Sims 2 Angel and Nurses Stuff folder, if you used the supplement to create shortcuts then use Windows Programs and Features in the Control Panel to remove it or else delete any shortcuts you made.

To run The Sims™ 2 Angel and Nurses Stuff:
The Sims™ 2 Angel and Nurses Stuff will not auto run from the DVD but needs to be launched directly from it's own shortcut.

Hospital

Sims can now go to the hospital to have their babies or cure disease.

Play Group / Day Care Center

You can now send your toddlers to a Play Group and go there with them.

Religion / Faith

After placing your first family on a lot , or playing one that is already in game, you will be prompted to set up your neighborhoods faith. choose how many faiths and name your gods. It will run you through a series of questions to decide what each god says is a sin or not. Each family can pick their own faith.
